KEDB Schema for Engineering Databases
since April 23, 1998, last modified February 7, 2000

KEDB considers engineering databases (or information systems) as a group of databases which support the life cycle of product development. The life cycle consists of three mega processes, design, manufacturing and after service (customer support) period. The following databases thus support each mega process:

The following schematic graph shows the category of the engineering database and detailed information systems in each category and the fundamental IT areas for the information developement.

We define main support demands during product life cycle for each database, and these are main goals of each database.

* In this article, we use the word 'database' as an extended database to its usgae processes (for engineering activity), person and organization and application programs including network facilities.
